It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dr. Houser’s father, Dr. Robert Houser, Sr.
An accomplished hand surgeon and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Houser, Sr. touched countless lives throughout his long and storied career. Working at The Ohio State University Hospitals during the 1970s and 1980s, he was a pioneer in flexor tendon surgery and rehabilitation. He performed countless surgeries for hand deformities, cleft palates, and burns while working at Children’s Hospital and was the first to perform surgery for hypertelorism in Columbus.
In the 1980s, he transitioned into cosmetic surgery and was one of the premier cosmetic surgeons in the Columbus area until his retirement in 2006. A gentleman farmer, he enjoyed raising and showing beef cattle across the country. He also loved singing in the church choir and with the Singing Buckeyes, a barbershop group. Nancy, his wife of nearly 60 years and a former nurse in his office, passed away in August 2019.
At this time, we extend our condolences to not only Dr. Houser’s family but also to those of you who were fortunate enough to have known Dr. Houser, Sr.
We know that some of you were his former patients, and together, we honor and celebrate Dr. Robert Houser, Sr.’s life and legacy.Previous Post
