Q&A With Dr. Kraft!

When did you decide to become a plastic surgeon?
Early on in medical school, I knew I wanted to be a surgeon. Initially, I thought about being an ENT and did some research on cochlear implants in the lab. However, once I started observing in the OR, I was fascinated by the way plastic surgeons were able to visualize parts of human anatomy, and the creativity involved in tailoring the surgery to the needs of each specific patient.

What is your favorite thing about being a plastic surgeon?
I love helping patients feel better about the way they view themselves and building confidence. Finding the perfect surgery and cosmetic outcome for each individual is immensely rewarding, and I love working with patients to meet their goals.

What do you enjoy the most about working with your patients?
I meet so many interesting people with such a broad range of life experiences – it is humbling to meet people at different stages of their lives and to help them achieve their goals for their appearance.

More from Dr. Kraft!

Do you have any hobbies?
My wife and friends joke that I pick up a new hobby every day. During residency, I picked up running and ran my first marathon in 2019, and am planning my second this year. I also love to play tennis, read, travel, and scuba dive.

What drew you to Columbus?
When my wife and I were looking for our residency training, we were drawn to the excellent medical training offered by Ohio State. We quickly fell in love with the city and the people we’ve met here and have made it our home over the last 6 years.

Where is your favorite place to eat in Columbus?
My wife and I love The Pearl and Fox in the Snow. I’m always looking for new suggestions!

What is your favorite travel destination (so far)?
During a cruise in 2019, my wife and I stopped in Havana, Cuba, and were blown away by the culture and people. Another favorite was our trip to Australia where we visited my wife’s sister and experienced the Australian Open tennis tournament and the Great Barrier Reef.

Where would you like to travel next?

I hope to take advantage of spending several months in Europe this summer to explore the Netherlands and surrounding countries during my fellowship with the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS).
